EMERGENCY REPAIR - RIVER CROSSING
We were asked to help on an emergency repair for Saskatoon on a 42" steel watermain coming up from under a river crossing. The watermain could not be shut down for a welded repair, a solution was needed fast were the water service would not be interrupted. With the help of Smith-Blair, Inc engineering team, we were able to provide a custom Smith-Blair, Inc 623 Double-Outlet Split Mechanical Repair Sleeve. This custom engineered solution allowed the repair to be done without the line being isolated and interrupting a large segment of the water utility's customers. The fitting was built in 2 days and onsite the 3rd when the installation was completed ..! EMERGENCY REPAIR - HOLIDAY SEASON
Over the holiday season, we received an emergency call to help out with a water utility that had a 42" steel main leaking and required an immediate solution. The challenge was to provide a method of repair where a previous coupling had been installed. We recommended a Smith-Blair, Inc split coupling to replace the previously installed coupling without the pipe ends needing to be moved. The Smith-Blair 675 split coupling was shipped via air freight in 4 days with the water utility performing an excellent installation.
