Tracer Wire

Copperhead® High Strength Tracer Wire combines the strength of fully annealed high-carbon steel with the conductivity and corrosion resistance of solid copper. The result is an industry exclusive in strength and reliability. Copperhead High Strength Tracer Wire is an engineering breakthrough for the underground construction industry and a perfect all-around tracer wire for open cut applications. Spools available in 500 ft, 1000 ft & 2500 ft rolls.

Copperhead’s SuperFlex™ Tracer Wire offers all the field-proven advantages of original Copperhead products. Superflex acts and feels like solid copper, yet offers superior strength and durability. Spools available in 500 ft, 1000 ft & 2500 ft rolls.

Copperhead’s Soloshot™ Extra-High Strength (EHS) Tracer Wire is Engineered specifically to handle the rigors of directional drilling. Copperhead’s SoloShot Extra-High Strength Tracer Wire has six times the breaking strength of solid copper in directional drill applications. SoloShot Extra-High Strength outperforms conventional copper wire in both performance and cost and represents another breakthrough in the trenchless industry. Don’t tolerate the hassle and cost associated with running multiple wires and costly re-bores due to broken tracer wire. Spools available in 500 ft, 1000 ft & 2500 ft rolls.

Copperhead’s SoloShot™ Xtreme Tracer Wire is a 7×7 stranded copper-clad steel tracer wire engineered to withstand the volatile environment of pipe bursting and critical bores. With a breaking strength of 4,700 lbs., compared to 3/16 stranded stainless steel (commonly used for pipe bursting), SoloShot Xtreme is nearly 30 percent stronger and is 3 1/2 times more conductive making your locates more accurate. SoloShot Xtreme provides you with the strongest, most reliable tracer wire available. Plus, because SoloShot Xtreme is so durable, it’s the only tracer wire needed for bursting and critical boring applications. Spools available in 500 ft, 1000 ft & 2500 ft rolls.

Access Points

Copperhead’s SnakePit™ Lite Duty and Lite Duty Adjustable Access Points are designed for light traffic areas such as yards and ditches. The SnakePit Lite Duty XL Adjustable Access Point has all the benefits of the Lite Duty but with an anti-sink design. Perfect for new construction where shifting soil may be an issue. SnakePit Concrete/Driveway Access Point features a 2” cast iron collar. This SnakePit is ideal for all concrete/driveway applications. The SnakePit Roadway Access Point is the toughest and strongest of all SnakePits. With a 5″ cast iron collar, it can take the constant pounding of heavy traffic.

The Cobra™ Access Point provides convenient, above-ground access to your tracer wire system. Connect your utility locate transmitter to one terminal and your ground rod to the other. Connect and disconnect the jumper to engage and disengage ground. The Cobra also provides a finished and professional looking installation. With up to three terminals, and multiple mounting options, the Cobra Access Point offers flexibility for many field applications.

The patented BoaBox™ Water and BoaBox Sewer Access Points provide efficient access to both the curb stop or cleanout and the tracer wire system, all in one unit. The dual compartment and integrated entry points eliminate the need for two lids in a yard or right-of-way. The BoaBox slips easily over a new or existing curb box stand pipe or cleanout PVC pipe. The tracer wire access provides two terminals, one for the tracer wire and one for the ground rod wire. The terminals are connected by a jumper which can be easily connected and disconnected to engage and disengage the ground signal as needed from the top of the unit.

The SnakeSkin™ Access Point will protect your tracer wire from damaging UV rays and weed whips, and offers a direct connection point to tracer wire when locating your utility. Corrosion and oxidation of tracer wire is not a problem when you protect your wire with SnakeSkin. A conductive aluminum barbed insert filled with water-displacing gel serves as an easy, direct connect access point that is rust free and corrosion resistant.

Connectors

Copperhead SnakeBite™ Locking Connectors make connecting tracer wire easy. SnakeBite’s exclusive 90-degree twist-lock design means you simply insert the wires, twist 90 degrees, and the connector is locked, and the wires are connected. It’s that simple. You don’t even have to strip the wires. Using SnakeBite connectors reduces installation time and lowers your overall labor costs.

Copperhead's Mainline-to-Service Connectors eliminate the need to cut the main line, installs in less than a minute, and are perfect for connecting services to the main line. The outer lid locks down keeping your connection free from contaminants.

Copperhead's Twist-on Connectors are great for splicing lines. All connectors are pre-filled with dielectric silicone sealant that never hardens, making them waterproof and corrosion proof.

Splicing and running service lines off of tracer wire suitable for pipe bursting requires a connector that can handle a variety of wire size combinations. The In-line Splice and Three-way connectors work well with Copperhead’s SoloShot™ Xtreme and 3/16 stainless steel cable. The In-line Splice Connector is a brass screw-tight lug that works great for splicing lines. It’s comes with a fast curing heat shrink creating a weather resistant wire connection. The Three-way Connector is a tin plated copper alloy made from 3/8″ x 1/2″ material with 1/4-20 slotted stainless steel set screws. The Three-way Connector comes with pre-filled dielectric gel to help prevent corrosion.

Locators

The ViperMag™ Pipe and Cable Locator is the only locator in its class that combines active locating frequencies with a ferrous metal detector in one device. This streamlines the locating process by eliminating the need for an operator to carry two devices in the field. ViperMag is the perfect tool for municipalities and utility locators.

Grounding Rods

Locating an underground utility using tracer wire is accomplished by placing a low voltage charge on a target line. When the tracer wire system is grounded properly, the charge is pulled down the line, and a complete electrical circuit is created. Copperhead® Ground Rods are essential for a strong signal and accurate locate.

Detectable Tape

Pro-Line’s Detectable Marking Tape is used for detecting, locating, identifying, and protecting buried utility lines for gas, water, sewer, telecommunication, and electrical markets. The width of tape used, is determined by the size of, and depth at which the underground utility line is buried. The depth at which detectable tape is buried, is determined by the width of the tape used. This product is currently available in Western Canada.

  • DETECT: Aluminum core is detected through means of inductive locating.

  • LOCATE: Line is located and marked after inductive locating is performed.

  • IDENTIFY: Utility type is identified by both the APWA color-code and utility legend printed on the marking tape.

  • PROTECT: Detectable tape works 24 hours a day and year round, even if tape is not inductively located during excavations, the tape provides a "stop-sign" effect that is highly visible.
